United T.E.A.M Initiatives

How We Got Started

Our founder, Vaughn Smith, knows firsthand the challenges faced by at-risk youth in Spartanburg. After overcoming his own struggles, he was determined to make a difference. He founded United T.E.A.M Initiatives with a vision of providing young people with the support and resources they need to break the cycle of incarceration and achieve their full potential.

Vaughn Smith believes that mentoring is key to helping kids develop the kills and confidence they need to succeed. He is passionate about creating a safe and supportive community where young people can learn, grow and thrive.

Our Mission

United T.E.A.M. Initiatives is dedicated to proactively helping at-risk youth in Spartanburg, South Carolina, by providing mentorship and emotional support before they fall into the juvenile justice system or reoffend. At-risk youth often face unique challenges such as unstable home lives, mental health issues, and academic struggles. These obstacles can lead to harmful behaviors, including incarceration, if left unaddressed.

Our programs are designed to offer early intervention, addressing these challenges head-on by providing the tools, resources, and positive role models that youth need to build resilience, make better decisions, and prepare for successful futures. By focusing on prevention rather than reacting after the fact, we aim to break the cycle of recidivism and help guide these young individuals toward healthier, more productive lives.
